Clamshell Railroad
Did you make it to Clamshell Railroad Days at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum this past weekend? It is fascinating to learn the tales of visitors coming out to the Peninsula by boat and train for the summer. Did you know the north end of this spit of sand was settled before the south – because of the Clamshell Railroad?
Last year Keleigh had the opportunity to work with a stellar group of historians, led up by The DEPOT Restaurant‘s Nancy Gorshe. The Depot is, in fact, the original train depot in Seaview, WA. The group, funded by The DEPOT, created a wonderful brochure and did a first printing. It was very well received and disappeared all too quickly.
This year, the Columbia-Pacific Heritage Museum got involved and supported a second, larger printing. They also worked with Sydney Stevens to create, The North Beach Peninsula’s IR&N, available for signing during this year’s Railroad Days. Visit the links in this paragraph for more info.
What a great project!
